The task
Enhance an existing OpenCart-based website to create a large-scale global tour aggregator by integrating, parsing, and publishing 300,000+ travel products with full online booking capabilities. Key requirements:
- Integration with the extensive Viator API (dozens of methods)
- Passing Viator (Tripadvisor) certification to ensure full compliance and partnership eligibility
- Parsing all products from Viator in three languages, including reviews, availability updates, and booking/payment functionality

Solution

An automated parsing and synchronization system keeps all content up to date — names, descriptions, images, cancellation policies, reviews, and structured product data. All tours support three languages (EN, NL, DE), with missing descriptions translated automatically via Google Translate API.
Viator certification
The platform successfully passed Viator's official audit, confirming compliance with 50+ technical requirements, including booking logic, API accuracy, form UX, availability display, and payment flow correctness. This granted the client certified partner status with Tripadvisor.
Advanced search and filtering
The site features a high-performance search system with indexing and auto-completion that remains fast even with hundreds of thousands of products. Custom multi-parameter filters help users quickly refine results and improve conversion within a massive catalog.
Multilingual and mobile adaptation
The interface supports full EN, NL, and DE localisation with synchronized content updates. The mobile version was optimized for the travel sector, ensuring quick navigation, fast load times, and a smooth experience on smartphones.
